Christian Linsey
Christian Linsey established himself as a drummer in NYC on numerous projects -- Back to Blonde, FRANK, Noah and the Megafauna, Laura Stevenson, Nicole Mercedes and BOMBZ. He released his debut solo LP, After All, which he wrote and recorded on a tascam digital 4 track with the help of friends, sparked by the death of his mother and a desire to write his own material.
His latest LP “New English” is full of songs that really want to love and comfort you. It's a lo-fi collage with weird love songs, lush dreamscapes, depression, old friends and family. “Sand in Your Hair” is a tripped out dream with hazy vocals floating over a stilted beat. “Lunchroom” and “Left your arm” are slacker-pop daydreams taking you back to high school. “Hello” could be the soundtrack to an experimental 80s movie.
While After All was a response to great loss, New English can’t help but feel like a rebirth. He’s older now, has learned to trust himself and his friends, less afraid to care deeply about making art. Linsey works with trusted collaborators Joe Rogers, Scott Porter, Matt Stamm, Pat Malone, Billy Ziff, J57 (beats), Elenor Norton (cello), and Tory Giardina (vocals), who each bring his work to life through their contributions.
