Kelli Scarr is a twice Emmy-nominated composer, multi-instrumentalist, and vocalist based in New York, renowned for her emotive and organic approach to film scoring. Hailing from a musical family in Northern California, Kelli's passion for music ignited early, singing alongside her grandmother before she could walk. By age 16, she had already performed at prestigious festivals such as Montreux, North Sea, and Monterey Jazz Festivals. After receiving a scholarship for jazz performance at Berklee College of Music, she moved to New York City and began her journey in film scoring in 2004.
With a rich portfolio spanning dozens of films, TV shows, and commercials, Kelli has developed a distinctive style characterized by the use of live musicians and improvisation. This commitment to authenticity allows her scores to resonate deeply, setting her work apart in an era dominated by digital sounds. Her score for the HBO documentary In A Dream earned her an Emmy nomination in 2008, while her work as both music supervisor and composer for documentaries like Advanced Style (2014) and Far Western (2016) further showcased her versatility.
Most recently, Kelli completed the score for the soon to be announced feature film After All, starring Penelope Ann Miller and Erika Christensen. Kelli’s commercial releases are also an integral contribution to After All’s soundtrack with six songs complimenting the sonic palette of her original score.
Beyond film, she has collaborated with diverse artists, including a notable partnership with musician Moby, and has released three solo albums, with a fourth currently in progress, recorded at Floki Studios in Iceland.
